Major Storm Damages In Missouri

Wow, Just as I was serving our main meal at 2pm yesteray-4th of July-the electric went out. It was weird too a lot of popping sounds usually the electric just goes out.

As I am serving our meal-all of a sudden out of no where-a huge storm with ocean type waves on our Lake in the Ozarks shows up. There were lots of boats on the lake at the time. The strong gusts of winds lasted awhile-was thinking of all those boaters out there-hoping they made it to safety. The time this storm hit is actually the prime time of when most boaters get on the lake.

Usually there are tons of fireworks near me-there was none last night. There was a lot of fireworks on the 3rd-I think many near me packed up and went home as we had no electric for around 4 1/2 hours.  I fell asleep waiting to watch fireworks in DC last night- which had gotten delayed do to storms there. Just woke up around 1:30 am. Wanted to search online about information on this storm that hit the lake.

Looks like a lot of damages here

I found this video-the waves were actually much higher than this shows where we are on the lake

I found this video on facebook

One of my main concerns was how long the spare oxygen tank would last for Larry-When they delivered oxygen a week ago they also brought a tank-he said in case of power outages. That didn't last very long-used half of the tank waiting for the electric to come back on.

I am thankful my area on the lake around me looks pretty safe. The city I shop for food mostly in and has the courthouse for this area-Versailles got hit pretty hard.

It is 2 am right now-neighbor is now shooting off fireworks??  I think I will read for a bit til I go back to sleep.

  1. We had quite the storm on the eastern side of the state. Hubby and I were heading into church, but when the wind turned our umbrellas inside out and soaked both of us we decided to come home and dry out instead.

  2. Wow-so sorry to hear this! My step father had oxygen for years, and ended up with one of those portable things along with the tanks for home. They should be giving you more than one extra I think.

  3. There were a lot of power outages in our native NJ from a storm on Friday, but we haven’t had any rain in Nashua, NH, for well over a week. It must have been scary without power and good to read that Larry had an extra tank of oxygen.

    1. That was quite a storm I was concerned too with all those boaters on the water. We have been blessed with rain here off an on-some spring and summers no rain I just read there is an area on the lake of thousands still no electric-as something big blew up and will take a few days to replace it. We would have been in trouble with no electric for that long

  5. Inconsiderate neighbors... don't you just love them?! I have many... But honestly the fireworks were crazy....Seriously like a warzone.. but at midnight they all came to a stop like it was planned and we did get a decent nights sleep... maybe not great because hubbys nerves were still on edge.. but we made it through another 4th... I'm so glad you came through the storm okay... don't forget to refill that half used bottle! :) Hugs! deb

  9. Kathy storms can be scary - so glad you and Larry were safe and the power came back on in time for Larry's oxygen needs. I know we too had a storm hit around 4 - 5 pm on the fourth. We had enjoyed fireworks from our field on the 2nd and 3rd (didn't see any on the 4th) - Well take care - Hugs!
