Good Morning Thursday

I visited a few blogs this morning-but sadly could not leave a comment-Again. Just don't understand why I continue to get failed to publish.  and I just tried commenting back to your comments here-ugh failed to publish   thank you for visiting and commenting

This morning is the first in many many days that we don't have high humidity along with the hot temperatures. I have close to a dozen hummingbirds now that are very hungry by dawn. So, I was surprised the high humidity was absent this morning-early.

I now have hospice set up at home to help us-Larry's two nurses are amazing-so am thankful.

The other day I grabbed my basket with the civil war era  meditative scroll to begin stitching. Many lay out this project as they go but I set up a couple-ready to stitch. Decided it would be easier for me to stitch across the short end-and then I may go back and stitch across the length-that would secure all the fabrics down better. I had shared photos on Instagram yesterday.

One of my slow mail friends-who sends me surprises through out the year-sent me an appliqued bird-that I love. Looking at it again-thinking this looks like the same width as my scroll-and it was-So I will be sewing it to the end of the scroll once I am finished.  I have been thinking that I may sew a blanket stitch around the edges for a nice finish.   photos will enlarge-just click on them

 Enjoy your day

Extreme Hot Summer Continues & This and That & About Pirate Ship

We did get one day of relief from the extreme heat here but we are back to high 90's with humidity.

Most of the orioles are back on their insects diet so I see just a few at the feeders now. I so enjoyed watching them all summer and then seeing the youngsters as well.  We have more hummingbirds now too. I am back to taking the feeders down just before dark as a racoon or something is knocking them down now.

It's been a rough week as care giver but we talked it over and I am getting help from home health. Using the same service as before when husband first came home from the hospital almost 3 years ago now.

I am working on controlling emotions and sadness but I will stay strong-as needed. I am at the time realizing I need help and can't continue alone Lack of sleep does not help me either. I did go sound asleep and woke up around 3 am-caught up on emails and then finished up a puzzle on Jigsaw Planet. Around 4 am Larry needed help-now to get my emotions back in check, drink a stress relief herbal tea-and lay back down for a bit.

My right leg finally feels a bit better today. My knee was swollen and in pain from working on the hill in hot sun trimming the bushes. Then a couple days ago I got bit by something-perhaps a spider-had two marks together on my foot-which swelled up a lot. Online said to take an antistamine . I use Alavert now I can no longer take Benydril as it makes me very "high"  I can not take much in medicine, even asprin makes me nauseated so I use the herb white willow bark instead.

went to the large Amish food store with our friends a few days ago and got some delicious huge cantaloupe that the Amish grow and sell. They also had some really nice fresh peaches so I bought enough to freeze-ended up with 12 half pints. Got the last of their fresh blueberries too. It is about an hour drive from where I live so I enjoyed getting out of the house and going along with my nearby neighbors. They go there quite often-so when they went again yesterday they picked up two more melons. I will freeze some of the melon this time. It is about the only thing Larry wants to eat now. No more blueberries though, I wish I would have bought more.

The other day comments were working for me so will see what happens.  I am almost finished stitching the third slow stitch bag. and then can work on assembling this one and mailing it off.  Thinking I will take a break from the bags and stitch to one of  my meditative scrolls that I have set up to stitch.

  Happy new week

Oh and when comments were not working for me during the time of the pirate ship post-I wanted to answer comments about that-We see this pirate ship go up and back since we moved here-Only runs during the summer months. I was thinking this was a tourist ship-I found information about it here and about their restaurant connected with the ship here

Monday morning update: I can comment back here this morning-but visiting blogs-some post some not-it is what it is

Taking a Break

Good morning, comments worked for about 4 or 5 comments and then it stopped again. Still this morning-comments not working

I have heard it said that God does not give you more than you can handle-but I am full stress mode.

Yesterday morning I had an errand I had to do-unlock  my car and the whole review mirror is hanging and looks like it totally came apart-it is illegal to drive without one, so I  called my neighbor down the lake a bit for help.

Husband getting much worse, the doctor we like came out last week-early as he was scheduled for this week-recommend some things-him and nurse left the office for  the rest of the week-nurse still out this week-someone dropped the ball and did not order his new medicine-for pain-or home health help.

I was on the phone Friday no one stepped up, called yesterday still nothing done, doctor to be in office this morning-I will be on the phone when they open today.

We were up most of the night last night-I was changing sheets constantly. My husband has suffered soooo much,

So of course I am zombie today.

Since I can't interact with you do to "comments failed to publish" I am taking a blog break. You are welcome to connect with me through my email form on my side bar.

We are in extreme heat and humidity still as well  It is summer but this has been very extreme

Wow Comments Posting & Pirate Ship

After several days of trying-I figured I would see if I could comment back to a few of yours tonight. Surprise a few posted.

We'll see how long this lasts haha

It is just a bit before dark now and looking out at the lake-the pirate ship is coming through. This is for the tourists here

Well the comments only worked for a handful of comments-figures

Hot Hot and Hotter & Emails In Place of Comments?

We continue with the very hot and humid weather-as a lot of you are experiencing as well. Thankfully we are not also dealing with that fire smoke that many of you are.

Starting today, we have three days of close to 100 degrees with high humidity. Early this morning I hand watered the garden flowers. Hopefully the grass will stop growing soon. smiles.

I am soooo frustrated with google and commenting. It has been several days now. I can usually comment to other countries though. also this usually does not last this long as in the evenings I was able to leave comments.

I have changed up the comment settings a couple of times but no results. One thing I read was my computer security could be an issue-well I am not turning that off. Google is just not maintaining their site any more which I had read when I was trying to get a new blog to work.

Well at least I can read your blogs and read your comments here. So know I am trying to interact with friends

Updates:

One of my friends commented about using email to stay in touch since I can not comment-it is really worse this time. I have a form here on my page where you can contact me and include your email if you are interested in communication that way. thanks all

I really enjoyed the FIFA games-watched quite a few of them-enjoyed tonight's game and was cheering on Spain-better sportsmanship on that team.

Can not Comment Again-Update I Still Can Not Comment

Good morning, My blog has been working pretty well for the most part-now I am back to "failed to publish"

I can sometimes comment on your blog posts or not. Most of yesterday could not comment, and this morning the same-very frustrating.  I just ran one of those scans for computers which I thought could help out, even restarted the computer-Nope  Google is back to not letting me comment.

So I am visiting but mostly can not comment on your blogs and most of the time not on mine. Sometimes comments will work during the evening better but no.

  Oh well

I Have a Washing Machine

Yesterday I wrote a post about this, early this morning I am re reading it and wayyyy too long haha

I was so stressed out yesterday morning, that I started hand washing some items. I wrote a post on Facebook about my situation with Lowes-a long time friend near our woods home calls me up-Kathy-when I visited last week I said to call me if you need anything. Me-I know but you are an hour's drive away and a busy man with your own business and raising your two young grandsons. Kathy I will buy you a washing machine and install it.

So he did just that-I paid him for the washing machine and extra for his time. So thankful. I was on the phone with Lowes as well-the delivery person lied about the width of the opening on top of the steps-he just did Not want to bring in my appliances. I finally got to a person at Lowes that actually listened to me and I got my refund in about 2 hours-went back to my credit card yesterday and should get posted today. For some reason they kept $39.00 of it but I am done with the stress of it all-probably a fee they are charging me for issuing the refund-craziness.

Friends are so important-forgot about that since we moved here to the lake. We do have one couple that lives close to us on the lake-that helps us from time to time as well. They are now living in Florida for 6 months though to enjoy warmer weather.

I got most of our clothes washed and dried yesterday, today I will start on the huge pile of bedding. I woke up too early again this morning-so I should have started a load

Looks like a bit of rain coming in today.

Google is not letting me post comments-again. I will be back to respond when I can

Delivery Day for Appliances

We are still hot and humid here-typical for Missouri Ozarks though. I spent a lot of hours yesterday morning, getting this gravel pile swept up and found boards to hopefully keep it from sliding down the hill. That was actually a big job.

This morning our nearby friend here at the lake moved the suburban to the top of hill and into our neighbor's driveway so it would be out of the way for the Lowes truck. Then after that cleaned up the area that was under the suburban-this hill is so steep that gravel and soil comes down with the rain storms.

I had just enough room in the very old chest freezer in the basement for the frozen items that were in the frig. That was a good thing. I also went through old bottles of things that we don't use any more and filled up about 6 wal mart bags full for the garbage pickup- which was early this morning-so that was good. It is amazing what was kept in the frig-especially since Larry's accident-that we don't use any more..

The window for the delivery is 1 to 5 that is really a long time frame. not sure what we will eat today around 2 pm. Larry is getting worse-which is expected so we may just have yogurt and fruit today and somethings else later.

I took a couple of photos

That stone pile was a job but now it is contained more. We bought this for projects before Larry's accident-and it was Very expensive we've used about half of it so far.

This hill is pretty steep and always intimidated me so is why I park up on the spot on top of this-I should learn to master this hill.  I am looking at new Equinox 2027 (online) for a new car for me-I need one soon to stay safe. Our friend that mowed the grass for me suggested it-he says his Mom and Grandma love theirs.  The dealerships near here closed down a few years ago so when I am ready will go to Lebanon which is near the woods home and am familiar with. Do any of you any have this car?

I hadn't talked with a long time friend in Wisconsin for over a year now so I Facebooked him around 11 pm last night and he says I am calling you.  We talked til 3 am smiles. A nice catch up with a good long time friend. They live in Wisconsin but move down to Florida in September and stay til Wisconsin warms up.  I gotten woken up after two hours sleep this morning-this will be a long day smiles.

  Happy Tuesday

Update more stress--the appliances won't make it through the opening on top of the steps so have to get a railing off--craziness because we have gotten very large pieces down here before stressed and not happy

A Bit of a Cool Down

   Good morning Saturday,

This morning we are a bit cooler-not a lot, and no full sun as of yet at around 9am  With all the rain and storms here along with high humidity it hasn't been good for me to work outdoors.

So I went out early and since we have had so much rain here this week the weeds pulled right out. I worked for about an hour so I wouldn't over do it, and to check on husband. I am so happy with the perennials I have picked up this summer. Most are doing really well. A couple of the bee balm are still very slow growing but most are looking really good.. When I was in Lowes I picked up two really pretty echinacea plants. I decided to put the two plants into two tubs like this one.  I have added a lot of bags of garden soil to this area-which is to the left looking out the door. For some reason nothing grows well here at all not sure why This gets full sun for part of the day and then a little less sun in the afternoon. Thought these plants would  do well in these pots. Love the color

Yesterday a good friend of ours that Larry had met when we first bought this home, stopped by to visit. His parents own a lake house here that they mostly rent out. He offered to cut my grass for me-to get me caught up-it was very tall. I don't think he realized how much grass is here to cut. I am so thankful-he has been a good friend-always stops in to see us when he comes down for a weekend. He lives in the Kansas City Mo area and is in between jobs at the moment-He is a trained chef and also a manager for big restaurants.  I suggested if he wanted to relocate to this area-there are lots and lots of new restaurants here at the lake now.

Larry's suburban hasn't been driven for about a year and a half now I try to remember to start it and let it run for a bit. Now that I need to move it before Tuesday when the appliances get delivered it won't start. I never learned how to charge a battery so I will need help with that and get it moved out of the way before Tuesday-always something stressful right now-I am working on relaxing my mind

We watch a little of Fox and Friends for morning news and today they mentioned the storm damages at Lake in the Ozarks-There was a lot here-we had another mini storm that sounded like a tornado on the water again a couple days ago.  I think these storms pop up with high humidity and temperatures

  Have a good weekend

I was looking around on You Tube and this video popped up about Lake in the Ozarks that was recorded this July 4th-I knew this was a party lake in some areas so it shows that too, and at the end we lost electric here on the 4th of July and the city had hired a fireworks show that defaulted at the last minute so the cities told everyone they could shoot off fireworks off of their docks It was an interesting video

watch here  ooops you will need to set the video at the beginning as when I tested the link it went to the  middle instead

Cutting up Fabrics for a Quilt

I decided a few days ago that instead of adding the left over patriotic fabrics to my fabric stash-why not just use it up for a simple quilt?

I decided to cut two simple blocks with the templates I had in my stash. I dug out that big tub of fabrics and just started cutting-a long rectangle and two squares to make a big block. Decided on making a full size which is a nice size for the couch.

I had been ironing all the fabrics and cutting for several days now. So I started to look at the fabrics this morning to begin setting up each of the blocks-Then I realized I messed up the math. I did not allow for the seam to sew the two squares together that will then be sewn to the rectangle Ugh so that makes the two sewn blocks 1/2 an inch smaller than the large rectangle.

I never was real good at math, and I guess not making a quilt for several years now this math just didn't occur to me at the time. To make up for the lost inches I may need to cut for another row of blocks. So this is super frustrating for sure.

Thinking I will just play around with the fabrics to assemble each block-which will take some time, sew all of the two squares together-press those seams-stitch to the large rectangle and trim off the extra fabric  on the completed block. Then measure and decide if I need another row of blocks or not.

Have you been following the USA soccer team?  It has been exciting to watch-they really messed up last night big time. The team did not seem mentally prepared for some reason for this game. Was a big let down to watch them play so poorly

Hoping it cools off enough today to get back to grass cutting with the humidity and rain it just keeps growing haha.

   Enjoy your day

Mid day update:
When we moved in to this lake home around 2020 I think it was all the appliances were here but old. I really need a new refrigerator, but this morning the washing machine decided to break with a full load of rinse water and mostly heavy sheets.  What a job to scoop out all this water. I am taking a break from that for a moment.  I do have one of those fold up wooden dry racks so set that up by the front door for the two flannel sheets. will have to wait til those dry-which will be awhile to dry the rest of the clothes.  I am just not in the mood today to figure out how to get a washer will get a new dryer as well. ugh Life can be challenging at times-just need to go with it-but I am already in stress mode.  My fault not getting new everything in appliances here before Larry's accident

Major Storm Damages In Missouri

Wow, Just as I was serving our main meal at 2pm yesteray-4th of July-the electric went out. It was weird too a lot of popping sounds usually the electric just goes out.

As I am serving our meal-all of a sudden out of no where-a huge storm with ocean type waves on our Lake in the Ozarks shows up. There were lots of boats on the lake at the time. The strong gusts of winds lasted awhile-was thinking of all those boaters out there-hoping they made it to safety. The time this storm hit is actually the prime time of when most boaters get on the lake.

Usually there are tons of fireworks near me-there was none last night. There was a lot of fireworks on the 3rd-I think many near me packed up and went home as we had no electric for around 4 1/2 hours.  I fell asleep waiting to watch fireworks in DC last night- which had gotten delayed do to storms there. Just woke up around 1:30 am. Wanted to search online about information on this storm that hit the lake.

Looks like a lot of damages here

I found this video-the waves were actually much higher than this shows where we are on the lake

I found this video on facebook

One of my main concerns was how long the spare oxygen tank would last for Larry-When they delivered oxygen a week ago they also brought a tank-he said in case of power outages. That didn't last very long-used half of the tank waiting for the electric to come back on.

I am thankful my area on the lake around me looks pretty safe. The city I shop for food mostly in and has the courthouse for this area-Versailles got hit pretty hard.

It is 2 am right now-neighbor is now shooting off fireworks??  I think I will read for a bit til I go back to sleep.

Patriotic Slow Stitch Scroll Set up

just finished laying out the fabrics for the second slow stitch scroll I am setting up.  I am pleased with this one-some nice fabrics in this one.

I took a few photos  bummer my camera never loads my photos in order-so these are not in order on the scroll  I am really pleased though with this piece.

This one below is the end of the scroll

All the fabrics were in my stash except for most of the patriotic fabrics.
I wanted to finish the slow stitches on the bag I am working on before I start stitching one of these scrolls.
That's a bummer I was looking forward to watching the patriotic show at Moint Rushmore and once they were just minutes away from starting a huge storm approached.

Enjoy your 4th

Happy 4th of July Weekend

  Happy 250th Birthday America

As President Reagan had once said We are only one generation from losing our country  and President John Adams said to celebrate our nation with fireworks and more.

The fact that communism is now on the ballot-even in Missouri-is just unthinkable to me, I hope and pray we can save our country. So ironic-our founders gave birth to our country to get away from government tyranny

But for now let's celebrate our 250th birthday I think it is exciting to live at this point in our history
