I decided to find my Halloween luminaries, and battery tea lights this afternoon. I also have two pottery "sacks" and a cast iron witch-that I forgot to turn towards the camera
I always enjoyed the Christmas luminaries but when we moved to the lake the ledge under the big windows is perfect for also Halloween and Thanksgiving ones too-something a little fun for me to do. I did not turn on the lights yet. (enlarge photos for better viewing)
Below is the display on the woodstove. I would love to get this woodstove working again, the previous owner had a major chimney fire, so it needs a new metal insert in the chimney.
We did not get the storms and strong winds but we did get some much needed rain.
I had not written any slow mail letters since July so I wrote and mailed out just a few this morning.

ReplyDeletethank you many years ago when we lived in northern Illinois-I would use real candles in the paper bags in the snow-
DeleteThat window sill is perfect for luminaries!
ReplyDeleteYes I love it!
DeleteIsn't it nice to have the perfect window for displays??!! I'd love to see the front of that witch if you ever get the chance...I have some cast iron Christmas ones with stained glass... Our decorations are slowly going up... I was waiting for that storm/cold front to come through... they predicted 2" for us and we only got 1/2" but much cooler ... welcome temps... but WINDY! Glad i haven't put the pumpkins out yet or i'd be chasing them down the street!! .. Hubs has been sick... he's finally on antibiotics and hopefully on the mend.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got a cool down too. I just saw on the weather channel we are going down into the 30's tonight and tomorrow and then back up again. got a bit more rain early this morning. I brought indoors my two large pots with the amaryllis bulbs so I don't forget and they freeze. Brought in the pot of annual mums too so they will last a bit longer. We did not get the strong winds that was predicted.
Deletesorry about your husband being ill-Larry is declining fast now-so getting harder. Today was nurses day so that always helps they come out twice a week. hugs
These are wonderful Kathy! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteGood morning thank you-I have always enjoyed these-nice spot to have them indoors
