Extreme Hot Summer Continues & This and That & About Pirate Ship

We did get one day of relief from the extreme heat here but we are back to high 90's with humidity.

Most of the orioles are back on their insects diet so I see just a few at the feeders now. I so enjoyed watching them all summer and then seeing the youngsters as well.  We have more hummingbirds now too. I am back to taking the feeders down just before dark as a racoon or something is knocking them down now.

It's been a rough week as care giver but we talked it over and I am getting help from home health. Using the same service as before when husband first came home from the hospital almost 3 years ago now.

I am working on controlling emotions and sadness but I will stay strong-as needed. I am at the time realizing I need help and can't continue alone Lack of sleep does not help me either. I did go sound asleep and woke up around 3 am-caught up on emails and then finished up a puzzle on Jigsaw Planet. Around 4 am Larry needed help-now to get my emotions back in check, drink a stress relief herbal tea-and lay back down for a bit.

My right leg finally feels a bit better today. My knee was swollen and in pain from working on the hill in hot sun trimming the bushes. Then a couple days ago I got bit by something-perhaps a spider-had two marks together on my foot-which swelled up a lot. Online said to take an antistamine . I use Alavert now I can no longer take Benydril as it makes me very "high"  I can not take much in medicine, even asprin makes me nauseated so I use the herb white willow bark instead.

went to the large Amish food store with our friends a few days ago and got some delicious huge cantaloupe that the Amish grow and sell. They also had some really nice fresh peaches so I bought enough to freeze-ended up with 12 half pints. Got the last of their fresh blueberries too. It is about an hour drive from where I live so I enjoyed getting out of the house and going along with my nearby neighbors. They go there quite often-so when they went again yesterday they picked up two more melons. I will freeze some of the melon this time. It is about the only thing Larry wants to eat now. No more blueberries though, I wish I would have bought more.

The other day comments were working for me so will see what happens.  I am almost finished stitching the third slow stitch bag. and then can work on assembling this one and mailing it off.  Thinking I will take a break from the bags and stitch to one of  my meditative scrolls that I have set up to stitch.

  Happy new week

Oh and when comments were not working for me during the time of the pirate ship post-I wanted to answer comments about that-We see this pirate ship go up and back since we moved here-Only runs during the summer months. I was thinking this was a tourist ship-I found information about it here and about their restaurant connected with the ship here

Monday morning update: I can comment back here this morning-but visiting blogs-some post some not-it is what it is

  3. Thinking of you Kathy... you and Larry... knowing that one day i will no doubt be in the same or near same position you are in with Larry... For now hubby is good... playing golf etc.. but i see it coming .. i see it on the horizon and it scares me to death.. I can so relate with emotions running high..
Life is HOT here too and all the rain we've had makes it so humid... I got the front yard done... working on the back... the grass was so thick this time.... crazy..
You know i haven't found a good cantaloupe yet this year... they are all tasteless... We did find a good watermelon for my Birthday Tea Party.. I will be posting pics soon...
So good to see a post from you Kathy... miss you! Hugs! deb

  4. So glad you were able to post, Kathy, and also to receive comments. Getting help for caregiving is a good thing because otherwise you would be running yourself down even ore and that would not be good for either of you. The insect bite could be worrisome and perhaps you can check with the home health aide or your doctor. Staying strong can be hard at times, but you need to get more sleep to do that as you already know. I hope that the heat subsides and the humidity as well.

  7. I'm glad to read your getting some help. Taking career of people is such hard work, and to do it you have to take career of yourself too. But when you're care giving. it's hard to self care. Please take care of yourself Kathy. and try to smile, though I know it has to be really really hard. hugs-Erika

  8. I am glad you are getting some help. Managing stress can be tough; stitching may be good medicine. It is so hot here- 100 plus every day. It’s hard to believe July is almost over, but then there’s August! 🥴 Take care! Hugs! Mary

  10. It is still hot and humid 😫 here in Montreal. I have never had any issues with comments but the news reader is another story. My Sunday post took 16 hours to show up in the news reader.
Last night my post appeared on time.
It's so strange because you just never know what's going to happen or when.
I am really glad that you are getting help, Kathy.
Please make sure to take care of yourself.
Sending you much love and hugs 🫂 🤗 ❤️
